Free PowerPoint Viewer
Open PowerPoint Files Without Microsoft PowerPoint
Microsoft has a free viewer for PowerPoint files appropriately called PowerPoint Viewer. It lets you open PowerPoint files without needing to have the full MS Office program installed.
It's important to know that PowerPoint Viewer can only view PowerPoint files, meaning you can’t add images, text, or other elements to the slides. You also can't make any changes to the presentation.
What You Can Do With PowerPoint Viewer
When PowerPoint Viewer is opened, it immediately prompts to select a PowerPoint file. If you don’t have any other applications on your computer that opens PowerPoint files, then PowerPoint Viewer will be the default program to view them.
The program interface for PowerPoint Viewer is extremely simple. You can click through the slides, use the arrow keys, and open a small menu via the bottom toolbar or the right-click context menu.
You’re able to navigate through a slideshow like you would in PowerPoint, view the slideshow in full screen, copy a slide as an image file, and print some or all of the slides.
You can also open password protected presentation files with PowerPoint Viewer.
PowerPoint files that were created using PowerPoint 97 up to 2007, 2010, 2013, and 2016 can be viewed in this free PowerPoint viewer. This includes all the following file formats: PPTX, PPTM, PPT, PPSX, PPSM, PPS, POTX, POTM, and POT. The OpenOffice ODP format is supported, too.
PowerPoint Viewer can be installed on Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP, as well as Windows Server 2008 and 2003.
