Free Slurpee Day at 7-Eleven
Everyone gets free Slurpees at 7-Eleven on 7-11
Every summer, thousands of 7-Eleven stores around the country celebrate the franchise's unofficial birthday on July 11 (7-11) by hosting Free Slurpee Day.
Free Slurpee Day 2018
In 2018, July 11 falls on a Wednesday, so consider taking a quick midweek break to visit 7-Eleven for their annual Free Slurpee Day.
Customers can stop into their local 7-Eleven between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. local time to receive a small Slurpee for free.
The free offer is limited to one small Slurpee per person, so you can bring your entire family and everyone can get one. Because it is limited to small Slurpees, you cannot bring your own cup. While it's not likely that a 7-Eleven store would run out of Slurpees, you might not want to wait until 11 p.m. just to be sure.
Each year, 7-Eleven features a new flavor for Free Slurpee Day and for 2018 that flavor is Red Dawn Monster Mutant, a new take on the classic Cherry Slurpee. You don't have to get this flavor for your free drink, but it will be an option for you.
Free Slurpee Day began in 2002, according to a 2014 story in USA Today. The convenience store franchise first started selling Slurpees in 1965, but they were called Icees then. By 1967, the name was changed to Slurpee, and the frozen soft drink has been a fixture at 7-Eleven ever since.
The first 7-Eleven opened in 1927, but the convenience store chain did not take on its now iconic name until 1946 when hours of operation were expanded to 7 a.m.–11 p.m. The franchise grew to 1,000 stores by 1963, and some stores by then were open 24 hours. As of 2018, 7-Eleven has more than 60,000 stores worldwide.
Multiple flavors of Slurpees have been marketed over the years, though Coca-Cola and wild cherry are been longtime standards. Customers can check out promotions and new flavors on 7-Eleven's website. In 2015, a blogger attempted to compile a list of all the Slurpee flavors 7-Eleven has offered over the decades, and he found more than 300 different options. He does acknowledge that some may be the same flavors, just marketed under different names at different times.
A quick online search will produce multiple lists of best and worst Slurpee flavors. Web searches also will result in endless lists of ideas for Slurpee combinations. For example, try mixing pina colada and wild cherry—or just about any two or three flavors that might work well together. Free Slurpee Day is the perfect opportunity to test out a new flavor combo.
Other Freebies at 7-Eleven
While Free Slurpee Day happens only once per year, 7-Eleven sometimes has free food offers with use of their app—and they often will have more of these offers the week surrounding Free Slurpee Day.
Many 7-Elevens have Redbox kiosks and you can use a code to get a free DVD, Blu-ray, or game rental.
Other Opportunities for Free Food and Drinks
