How to Remove a Facebook Application

If you've ever requested a Facebook freebie, a coupon, taken a survey or quiz, or done anything interactive on Facebook, you most likely have had to install a Facebook application to access these things.

A Facebook app is a piece of software that uses your newsfeed, friends, and notifications to create an experience for you created by that app you downloaded.

You always have the option of not doing a Facebook activity that has you install an app, but there's no reason to miss out on the fun when you can easily remove the app when you're finished or go through your list periodically and uninstall them.

Most of the apps are harmless but keep in mind that they may end up compromising your privacy by using or selling your personal information.

The steps below will help you remove a Facebook application so that app can no longer access your information.

Visit Your Facebook Privacy Settings

It's a very simple process to remove a Facebook application with a few steps that take only a few minutes.

First, you'll need to visit Facebook and make sure that you're logged in. Click on the down arrow at the top right of your Facebook page and click Settings to bring up your general Facebook settings.

You'll see all kinds of Facebook settings here that have everything from basic information to what language you use. 

Near the bottom left of your page, click on Apps to view the apps that are accessing your Facebook page.

Facebook will show you some of the applications that you've used in Facebook.

Click on the Show All link at the bottom of this list to view all the applications that you've accessed on Facebook. 

Select the Facebook Application You Want to Remove

Now you'll see a complete list of all the Facebook applications you've given permission to use your Facebook information.

When you see an app you want to delete, hover your mouse over the app and click the X that pops up to the right of it.

After you've selected the Facebook application you want to delete, you'll see a pop-up box asking you if you really want to remove that application. You may also have the option to here to delete the app's previous activity from your Facebook account.

Click Remove to permanently remove the Facebook application.

That's it! The Facebook app you've decided to remove/delete is now gone. You'll have to reinstall it again if you want it back.

Unfortunately, there's no way to install a bunch of the Facebook apps at once. You'll have to go through each app and remove them individually.

Keep in mind that you have to give permission for each Facebook app to install, so you may want to be more paticualr in the future about who you let access your information.
